The three major elements to keep any plant healthy are sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water. Water is needed to help plants to absorb nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorous from the soil, aid transportation of gases during photosynthesis, and produce glucose for the plant. All these help the plant grow to its full potential.
Apart from water, gardeners and farmers have experimented and found other liquids that can supplement the nutrients in the water and their functions to help plants grow and remain healthy.
Some plants can comfortably grow when liquids apart from water are applied to them while others may have bad reactions when other liquids are applied. As we continue in this article and discover other liquids that help plants grow, remember that water is still the best liquid that plants need and should not be exempted from any plant regimen but can be supplemented with these liquids.

Liquids That Plants Can Grow In (Other than water)
Watering Plants with Manure Tea
Manure tea is manure mixed or diluted in water. It has a pungent, bad odour but is highly effective in supplying nutrients to plants. To make it, simply gather well-rotted manure that has been left to sit for at least 60 days then mixed in water and left to ripen. Avoid using manure from carnivorous animals since infections and diseases can be passed through it.
Watering Plants with Carbonated Water
The bubbles in carbonated water are carbon dioxide which is an essential element for healthy plant growth. So that points as evidence that carbonated water is good for plants. Apply with caution since some sodas contain salt that can potentially block the plant roots from absorbing nutrients from the soil.
Watering Plants with Liquid Fertiliser
Soils contain nearly all the nutrients that plants need to thrive but to speed up the plant growth and produce robust blooms and fruits, you can add some more nutrients through a liquid fertiliser. They can be purchased as ready-made liquids or may come in granulated and powdered forms that require them to be diluted with water by following the mixing instructions on the packet.
Watering Plants with Fish Emulsion
Fish emulsion is a substance with rich content of nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorous; nutrients that are needed for plant growth. It has a pungent odour that pervades the air around the plants after application but is easily neutralised in 24 to 48 hours. It is commercially prepared as a powder but can be easily diluted in water to release the nutrients by following the manual instructions.
