In summer, new foliage growth has an intense red colour but mature foliage is creamy white. It blooms small, white flowers that are arranged in umbels, approximately 12 cm wide. This pretty plant is best suited for sandy or loamy soil with an acid or neutral pH. It thrives in moist, well-drained, organically rich soil and can be positioned facing north, east, south, or west.

Factors Influencing Photinia pink marble Growth Rate

Plant growth is an important aspect of plant survival. Several factors can influence the growth rate of photinia pink marble.

Light requirements for Photinia pink marble

Photinia pink marble thrives when fully or partially exposed to sunlight. Long periods of darkness will cause it to experience chlorosis where its stems start to thin out and become fragile. Also, its leaves will curl up and the entire plant will eventually become yellow. On the other hand, excessive exposure to sunlight has a significant effect on the plant’s dry weight and the quality of its leaves and flowers. Therefore, protecting your photinia pink marble tree on extremely hot summer days is paramount. If you make use of artificial lighting such as LED grow light, you must adjust the intensity when necessary.

Temperature needed for Photinia pink marble

This greatly impacts the growth rate of photinia pink marble because it influences various plant processes such as respiration, transpiration and photosynthesis. High temperature sets off a chemical reaction in the cells of this plant which will speed up these plant processes. Photinia pink marble has a faster growth rate during warmer periods. It will slow down or become dormant during cooler periods.

How much water for for Photinia pink marble?

Like most plants, water makes up about 90 per cent of photinia pink marble. Water plays a role in transpiration, respiration and various biochemical reactions occurring within the cells of this lovely tree. The amount of water required for a healthy growth rate is related to the nutrient conditions in the soil in which it is planted. Insufficient watering will cause wilting, reduce its growth rate and possibly result in stunting. However, excess water can hinder its growth. Photinia pink marble needs an average amount of water to keep it growing at a normal rate.
