How to grow Areca Dypsis

Areca palms, whether indoor or outdoor plants are best planted in spring. They have a slow growth rate but will grow faster with the right growing conditions. Keep inside over winter!

They need a healthy amount of water but it is best to wait for the topsoil to dry out before each watering. They need a lot of light and prefer a sheltered position where they can get filtered sunlight but will still grow well in full sun. Feed your palms throughout the growing seasons.

Where should I position Areca Dypsis in my garden?

When grown outdoors, these palms like bright and dappled sunlight but will often tolerate full sun. Indoor plants will also appreciate bright light exposure so you can place them beside a window that is facing south or west.

How tall does Areca Dypsis grow and spread?

Areca palms can grow as tall as 20-35 feet in length and spread 10-20 feet. However, indoor plants are not likely to reach these dimensions.

What kind of soil does Areca Dypsis need?

Indoor plants need a peat-based potting mix that is well-draining. For outdoor Areca palms, plant in fertile, loamy soil that is slightly acidic.
